St Blaize Model Flyers celebrate their 21st Anniversary this year.  MBAC congratulates them in reaching this milestone.

  • A highlight of their celebrations will be hosting an event for their RC community between 3 - 5 November 2017.  For their Birthday, they request some airsapce from us - and that's all .
  • Some high performance model jets will be participating and they will need additional airspace up to a height of 600' AGL.  This request is specific to Saturday 4 November between 09H00 and 14H00.
  • They will have a safety officer monitoring 124.2 Mhz.
  • A/C are to adhere to the MBAC circuit rules - ie to remain south of the runway.
  • Let us contribute to their fun and special week end by giving them safe and sterile airspace.
  • For further info please call Kobus Swanepoel:  081 270-5687.

Caution: FAMO is a registered Parachute Dropzone.  PJE between sunrise & sunset.  Monitor 124.2 MHz for jump plane advisory calls.  Aircraft hold 1nm from airfield while PJE in progress.

FAMO is no longer in the AIP

Because we as an airfield aren’t compliant with ICAO regulations/requirements (Para 2), FAMO airfield data is no longer captured within the AIP.  This isn’t unique to FAMO.  There are 84 registered airfields and 88 Helistops which like FAMO, don’t comply to ICAO requirements.  As a service to the aviation community, SACAA has created an aerodrome/heliport directory within the AIC system.  I’ve researched this and insert a few AIC links below which will assist us all.  I suggest you open & read sequentially the links below:
So the information is still available to us in the aviation community – merely captured “elsewhere".
If there are any omission or errors that catch your eye, please advise.

Kind Regards
